Poor animal A.I. and choppiniess on systems that aren't top-of-the-line are all that brings down this hunting game.
If you like wielding heavy machine guns and plowing down hundreds of aliens you maybe will find this game slow, really slow, but this just means you have to incorporate strategy into your gameplay. No, there are no automatic weapons, grenades, plasma guns, or rocket launchers, but it is a real life game that instantly made me want to actually get out of the basement and shoot a real animal.
The enviornments are pretty big, there are tons of gear options including tents, so you can sleep to regain energy, food and water, scent stuff you spray on yourself, etc. One thing i wished they'd do is actually give you a cabin that you start off in and return to so you can get more food if you run out because you have to fill your backpack with hundreds of pounds of stuff to effectively hunt.
There are 26 animals to kill, according to the box, and they're your standard bear, deer, elk, stuff like that. The animals are realy stupid, though. They'll get up, run, hit a tree, turn left, run, turn right blah blah blah and end up running in circles which made me drop the game's score a whole point because this is not something you can just ignore, it's a HUGE flaw that takes alot of realism away from this game.
Maybe it's just my computer, but this game slows my system down to a crawl where i can barely turn around due to the choppiness and forcing me to turn the graphics settings way down... If your computer is kind of old and slow this game will probably not run very well.
This game is probably like $5 now and there's alot more good stuff than bad and if you have a good computer i advise you to buy it.
Also holy CRAP are there alot of Cabela games. Man oh man...
