Good... but not great

User Rating: 8.1 | Cabela's Alaskan Adventures X360
Where to start with Cabellas Alaskan Adventure.... The Menus are sparse, the graphics arnt exactly what we expect from a next Gen title after Gears of war has raised the bar (Functional would be the best way to describe them), the sound is nothing to write home about and the gamplay is mediocre at best. but there is something immensely satisfying about the whole experience. Whether its the thrill of spotting your prey at distance through the scope on the rifle and knowing you have to compensate the trajectory of the bullett for the distance you are away or whether its the sheer relief when you shoot a predator at close range when your life is draining away the whole experience is satisfying. You will find yourself on this game for hours just taking in the surroundings, picking the ideal spot to make your shot from or just running around looking for something to shoot (remember though dont hunt what you aint got a licence for!!!) or at least i did.

In addition to the hunting there is the option to go Ice fishing. This in itself is not not great... it all seems a bit random whether the fish bit or not (that may just be me though) and the landing of a fish seems nigh on impossible at times. There is also a dog sledging option. Time consuming and tedious is the words for that.

all in all though its a quality game... perhaps not a great full price title but find it for the right price (£30.00 for me!!!) and its a worth addition to anyones collection as there is little else like it on next gen at the minute!
