Cute, colourful, fun and addictive.

Taito's arcade classic returns on N64, and if there was one word to describe it, that word would be 'addictive'. The idea is to pop all the bubbles, by firing them at other bubbles of the same colour. Hard to explain, but highly addictive. There are three modes, Puzzle, Vs. Computer and Multiplayer. In Puzzle Mode, you guide Bub, the little green dinosaur star of Bubble Bobble, through a maze of letters. Each letter has a puzzle to clear. In the puzzle, you have to clear all the bubbles from the screen before they reach the bottom. In Vs. Computer mode, you play as Bub once again (or Bob, the blue dinosaur, if your controller is plugged into port 2) and guide him through a story mode, of some sort. Bub must fight through a whole bunch of enemies, to reclaim the stars, which have been stolen. The enemies get harder and harder. To 'fight' the enemies, you must basically get rid of lots and lots of bubbles, to give them to the enemy. The more bubbles you get rid of in one, the more the enemy gets. The screen sometimes comes down. The first person whose bubbles reach the bottom of their area loses. In Multiplayer mode, you battle a friend. It's the same as the Vs. Computer mode, only it's against another player. Overall, this is a super-fun game. The music is brilliant and sticks in your head, and the graphics aren't bad, though there isn't much of them. The backgrounds are all good photos, though. Heh. If you want a fun, addictive puzzle game, this is the one for you.
