Burnout Revenge builds on the success of Burnout 3: Takedown and is better in almost every aspect

The Burnout series has always taken a distant second place to Need for Speed when it came to non-kart arcade racing games. Burnout 3: Takedown changed all that. Now, two arch rival series both live under one house (EA) and both put out great games this year. Burnout Revenge had a hard act to follow after Takedown, which is my personal favorite racing game of all time, but it did improve on almost every aspect. Everything technical about Takedown was improved greatly in Revenge. The racing modes have also become a lot more interesting with alternative paths (Like NFS: Most Wanted) and the inclusion of the crashbreaker in racing modes. Hitting same way traffic into rivals is a lot of fun and eraces one of the very few annoyances that Takedown had. The only thing that Revenge doesn't one-up Takedown in is the Crash Mode, the mode that made the series famous. Like the trailers for the game suggest, the new crash mode is a lot like a golf game, and it's harder than it looks to get a hole in one. It does bring more challenge to the table as far as having a quick launch and not turning too quickly in air, but it just doesn't give you the same sence of joy that Takedown did. I miss the medals you try to aim for and using the crashbreaker to hit that x4 multiplayer to win. Now, those are replaced with a target car that doesn't give you many bonus points. It's different, and that's not a bad thing, but it's just not as good as Takedown's crash mode. Burnout Revenge is an amazing racer that you will love for years, but Burnout 3: Takedown is still king.
