A GTA quality game with zero quality given to beta testing this port. Don't support Rockstar until they learn from this!

First and foremost, the poor programming behind this console port is unacceptable. It took way too long after retail release for the various fatal flaws to be patched that made this game unplayable for a huge majority of anyone that tried running it on their system.

Even after the patch, there are performance issues on machines that 'should' run this thing fast and flawlessly at any part of the game.

If it weren't for such a half assed job in programming, I'd have rated this at 9.5

It's not perfect, but it is a LOT of fun, and just like the 3D GTA series, it uses the same novel and potentially boring game mechanic and adds so much character, style and life that you get hooked very easily.

Just like the GTA's, it's not terribly challenging if you have even a spec of hardcore gaming skills, it' s just a whole lot of dumb fun cleverly designed with the same standard of clever sarcasm and social commentary.

A lingering artefact of the bad port feature unfortunately are the controls... the camera stills moves around sluggishly with a mouse, like it's designed for the limitations of an analogue controller stick. Response time seems all good, but zero attention to PC control dynamics were given to this game (unlike the attention they usually give to the GTA series).

The targeting system can be wonky as well, retargeting a friendly character if they're too close and beating the crap out of them before you can stop your moves.

But otherwise.... Rockstar's failure to beta this properly... if you LOVE the GTA series, this is basically GTA: Schoolyard City
