A point-and-click adventure, reminiscent of the old days.

Well, this is a pretty nice point and click adventure, but I'd hesitate to call it a game. It's really more of an interactive story than anything else but it's good at what it does.

Ubisoft has published another game about the conflict between the Knights Templar and the Assassins and this time it's presented from a different perspective.

You take the role of two rather ordinary people, a French journalist and an American lawyer who has come to France on vacation. You take turns controlling them and investigating some strange events. Initially, the journalist seems to be the main protagonist but after a short while, the lawyer becomes the primary character and you even get to travel to different countries.

The dialogue and story is very well-written and is quite humorous. It'll keep you entertained throughout the game. The graphics for the most part are pretty decent and they fit the scene perfectly. The only problem is that the cut-scenes leave something to be desired. The characters are pretty ugly in those. Thematic elements aside, the overall look is similar to that of Monkey Island 3, except not nearly as pretty.

The bad part is similar to that of other point-and-click adventures. The interaction and choices you can make are very limited. Sometimes you know the answer but have difficulty executing it because you have to do it in a certain way. Other times, you just get lost and can't figure out where you have to go or what you have to do. Because time in these games passes sequentially, you can effectively get stuck "waiting" for someone, and wandering around trying to figure out what event will trigger the next plot element. So you'll end up talking and examining with many of the same people and things (respectively) over and over again.

Regardless of all of that, by the time you get done with this game (it's short) you'll appreciate the experience. Again, it's not really much of a game, but sometimes even hardcore gamers need a break. Besides, the story is well worth it.
