Brian Lara Cricket 2005 Flaws!

User Rating: 8 | Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 PC
The gameplay is very good, however, the developers can work on the following to make it the best in the industry (in random order)

- Allow the user to edit the team clothing and player characteristics
- One should be allowed to save the fielding positions created in the ‘custom’ option. At present, every game I play I need to go and set the field to the same positions again. Very frustrating!
- The Wicketkeeper never misses any throw at the stumps. He always knocks the stumps down when the batsman are attempting to steal a run
- The worst part about good bowling is, no mention of a hatrick. Can you guys believe that? How important that is. The commentators just go about talking as if nothing ever happened
- The amount of times a replay is shown during a run out kills me, it bores me to death
- The appearances of players could be made better. When the batsmen are wearing helmets it becomes almost impossible to recognize them
- A fielder should be allowed to throw the ball at either end to effect a run out
- They could make the games more interesting by introducing the D/L system for matches getting affected by rains
- The ability to watch any reply, for any ball bowled or any shot played should be available, not only the ones that are wickets/4’s or 6’s
- The LBW decisions are really bad at times, I have come across decisions that say “Outside the off stump” or “Too high” when I have bowled Yorkers at middle stump. This needs to be made much more smarter
- One should be allowed to save the replays as well to see at a later stage or to show off to friends
- The AI bowling choices are not intelligent enough, the number of overs a bowler will bowl are pre-defined, so even if the bowler goes for a lot of stick in an over, 36 runs, he is still allowed to bowl another over. In a 10 overs match each bowler bowls 1 over, in a 20 overs match he bowls 2 overs, in a 30 he bowls 3 overs in one spell. This needs to be changed according to the situation.

However, the gameplay as I said is very smooth. I have not played the games on the xbox or the ps2 so I do not know how the graphics are, but if you are looking for good gameplay then this is the game to play. Very smooth and fantastic shots.

All in all, EA Cricket gets a 4/10 in terms of gameplay and a 9/10 in graphics

BLC gets a 9/10 in terms of gameplay and a 7/10 in graphics. Go out abd buy this if you are a cricket fan!
