There are basically no fantasy RPG games available for the PS4, but this one is definitely a game worth playing. It's not Skyrim or Witcher, but it offers plenty of fun to be had. The world isn't open, having to zone into many different areas, and the zones are also not open, but having determined paths to follow. Still, it's a pretty world and fun to walk through.
The combat is fun, with different skill trees to build on to add an amount of customization to. Once your play style is determined, it can become basic, but the graphics are nice and having an NPC with you at times offers a Dragon Age style twist.
The storyline is not all that bad. Yes, it can be generic, but so is every other fantasy RPG on the market. The voice acting isn't the best and the verbiage is often really bad, but it's not enough to really detract from the game as a whole.
Crafting can be fun, too. There is the ability to make potions, traps, and arrows, but not individual equipment. You can upgrade gear that is able to be upgraded, though. This isn't the most dynamic and intensive system, but it adds that little element to the game.
Overall, Bound by Flame is definitely worth the time to play. It's fun, has a little challenge, and is cheaper than other new games.
