Boom Blox isn't a very good single player game, but the multiplayer experience makes this beast well worth the purchase.

User Rating: 9 | Boom Blox WII
Final Score: 9.1/10 (A-)

We've all played games that pale in the single player department but absolutely kick ASS in the multiplayer department. Boom Blox is one of those games. The single player mode won't be of any interest to most people who buy this game. Instead, most will go directly to the multiplayer mode. The multiplayer action in Boom Blox is some of the best I have ever played on any console, and yes, I'm even comparing it to the online multiplayer modes on the 360 and PS3!

Features

.Lengthy single player campaign that unlocks all the secrets in this game

.Wonderful cartoonish world with cute animals and paper trees

.Six files to choose from

.A Create your own level mode

.It's made by Steven Spielberg, the greatest film director of all time

.Some of the best multiplayer on any console

Boom Blox on the Wii lets you choose from six files in the game, which makes it perfect for many parties to get started. And when you're talking about a game created by STEVEN SPIELBERG (!!!), this is one party you don't want to end.

Basically, Boom Blox is similar to Jenga, but instead of stacking blocks, you smash them down! If you get the most, you win! I'm sure Angry Birds had some influence over this, because the two games are almost similar! That's okay, because Boom Blox itself was pretty popular back in 2008.

The multiplayer mode is all you should care about when it comes to this game! Here's a tip; turn this game on, tell people passing by that it's Boom Blox, and they'll never let go of the wiimote! That's happened to me all the time! My friends, family and I got so completely addicted to this game, it's crazy! What's fun about this game is how many blocks you can destroy at a time! The blocks have numbers on them from 1 to 50, and of course hitting the big blocks is the best. It's extremely satisfying to see a bunch of numbers appearing as your score, and you and your friends will race for the top score!

There's also different ways to play. There's a wild west style shooting game, a plumbing game, and even a tiki tower topple! These modes are extremely fun, but be warned; some may last too long (like the medieval style gem throwing game and hockey)

Boom Blox also has a couple of flaws. The single player mode isn't bad, but it's nothing worth turning your head for. The reason is that it's just you, not anyone else. It would've been better if there were coms playing. Even when you're going for the gold medals, it seems very boring to play the single player mode. Unlocking parts to create your own levels seems like a treat, but I'd rather play the levels EA made instead of mine. This has been done in Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2 (via the construction mode) but that was WAY more fun than the construction mode here because it contained a lot of platforming elements!

The graphics in Boom Blox won't make you turn your head from the gameplay, but they get the job done. The cute, colorful animals are shaped like rectangles, which is a very charming style. the backgrounds also have a cute paper style quality. The sound effects aren't anything special, but the music fits the game well.

In conclusion, Boom Blox isn't a very good single player game, but the multiplayer experience makes this beast well worth the purchase. Few games are as fun in the multiplayer department as Boom Blox. If you don't have friends, don't get this game, because the single player mode isn't all that fun. If you do have friends, you NEED Boom Blox in your collection!

Gameplay: 9/10: It would've been a 10 if the single player mode wasn't so boring

Graphics: 8/10: Nothing spectacular, but it's clean, cute, and gets the job done.

Sound: 8/10: lame sound effects and excellent music

Replay Value: 10/10: You'll never want to stop with the game's multiplayer modes, because once you do, you'll instantly regret it.
