OVERVIEW

Boogie Bunnies is a simple puzzle game from the Xbox Live Arcade. With puzzle games being a dime a dozen on the XBLA, games in this genre really need something to stand out among the rest. Unfortunately, Boogie Bunnies is another terrible puzzle game that's not worth your time. Boogie Bunnies is simple puzzler that consists of colorful, dancing bunnies. Your objective is to make sets of three or more (of the same color) and when you do the meter at the bottom of the screen increases. Once you've filled up your bunny meter you'll advance to the next stage. There is a race against time because the bunnies start to multiply in the back row and push the other bunnies forward. Now the bunnies are all happy until they get pushed to far and fall off the edge of the game board and die. Dead bunnies will count against you and your bunny meter will decrease, greatly. There are three different game modes to play (arcade, classic, and endless) but don't be fooled because they're all pretty much the same.

GAMEPLAY

Alright, so we know that there isn't much depth to this game but how does it play? Well, Boogie Bunnies has frustrating controls that often makes you miss place your shot. You have the option to move side to side on the bottom of the screen and also along the sides of the board. This is actually a nice feature because you can place bunnies on the lower rows, which help out a lot. The gameplay gets very repetitive really fast because all you do is match colored bunnies together and no matter with type of game you play, the same objective holds true. It might be fun for a couple of minutes but after about a half an hour you'll be ready to do something else. Now Boogie Bunnies had a great idea to offer a co-op mode but unfortunately the execution is of poor quality. If you have two people that know how to play the game well and are willing to divide the board equally then you'll be fine. But let's face it, most of the people playing this game aren't going to be pros and since you can't pass each other on the game board, it gets confusing quickly.

GRAPHICS & SOUND

There is some good to this game and that is in the graphics. The environments are nice to look at and the colorful bunnies aren't bad either.

Ahhhh… The bunnies are so annoying. The sounds they make are like nails on a chalk board. You'll almost be glad to kill them off just to shut them up.

CONCLUSION

Play the demo and you'll see how boring this game really is with its lack of depth and terrible controls. I don't recommend anyone purchasing this game because it's a short game with no replay value. Boogie Bunnies is "shovel-ware" at its finest.
