Bomberman Hero For N64.

OK, I'll be honest. I always liked the Bomberman series. But then, one day, my brother bought Bomberman Hero. And you know what? I'm glad Ichose this over Iggy's Wrecking Balls (the game I was going to buy) because this game is actually a bit of fun. Gameplay : Yes, a little more faulted than both graphics and sound, but still fun. This has got to be the first Bomberman game with a single player mode that I actually found fun. And you know what? this game is based on the single player mode, there is no multiplayer. So the developers were able to focus on the single player, and they came up with something quite good. You run around bombing bad guys, sorting out puzzles (I happen to love puzzles) and defeat bosses. The many different areas keep things different and fresh throughout the journey - I was never bored once. Puzzles, action, this seems like the perfect mix, and the developers pull this off pretty well. There is the annoying camera, and the occasional bit where you simply do not know what to do, but you're always inspired to figure out. Great gameplay with some faults that bring it down some. Graphics : The graphics are actually good for an N64. If found them to work quite nice, and I don't remember anything annoying with this title. All the weird and zany characters work here, and it's done with polish. I think the developers may have actually tried for once on making some decent N64 graphics, and I'm really happy about it. There isn't much else I can comment on in the graphics area here. They work. That's what matters. Sound : The sound is pretty cool. Each set of stages (and sometimes singles out stages) get their own style of music. If it's underwater, the music will sound aquatic and if your in an underground area, it'll sound, well, you know in video game what music plays when your underground? Yeah, like that. My point is that the music fits with the stage, and each boss usually has some kind of re-mix of one of these tunes, or music of their own to support the area (the first boss, and electric catfish, has mechanical music, which helps with the whole electricity bit). It works, and like the graphics, that's really all there is to say here.

After you beat the game, you can go back and try to collect Gold medals for each area (planet). I've gotten to a point where I have all silver medals except for one gold one. I still challenge myself and try to earn all gold. It's fun, it'll keep you coming back a while, and for some odd reason, even after you've mastered the puzzles, it doesn't get old.

Fun, entertaining, difficult. Think of something a good game should have. Guess what? Bomberman Hero has it. This game simply amazes me time and time again in terms of how great it is. This is probably one of the best N64 games to date. You should get it right away. As a matter of fact, it should already be pooped in your N64 right now. One of the best N64 games ever. Own it.
