A Quite Satisfying, Unique Experience

The game allows you to go wherever you feel like going and whatever you feel like doing. It is a sandbox game that boasts a big area. The developers say it's 300 square kilometers, whatever that means. In reality I think they meant 300 cubic kilometers, as some of the action happens in the sky. That's right, you can even fly small planes and choppers.

The variety of vehicles you can hop into is staggering. You can stop a car, any car, shoot the driver and drive away with the car, as simple as that. Who's gonna hold you responsible for it? The police is corrupt, people die left and right, nobody cares. You should travel from place to place to do the main and side quests which are fun for the most part. You can pay for taxi and get to your destination instantly, but I ended up driving around just for the heck of it because the scenery is nice with lush jungles and shootouts on the road. You can steal things off dead bodies but most of the time you end up carrying useless, broken assault rifles that don't have much value and burden your maximum load.

Your main quest, finding your missing daughter seems like detective work, and each encounter gets you a little closer to your elusive goal. But you're a badass gringo in a foreign land and nothing can stop you no matter what.

Technically, the game should be full of bugs with regular crashes to desktop -this is what reviewers said when it first came out. However with the patches it worked fine for me. One aspect of the game I didn't care about was the weird background music. Someone online wrote it sounded like old, 60s music in porn films and I think he wasn't far off.

The main thing in the game, the shooting, wasn't very complex like some other big name FPS games but it was satisfying for me.

Small touches like the girl dancing in the bar, the cave, shooting jaguars and parrots, etc. were a nice touch that added variety and uniqueness to the game. I especially laughed at my clueless b**** of a wife on the phone that makes you wanna throw the phone away. Overall I enjoyed the game and I recommend it to anyone who can relax and take his/her time stopping to buy fruits and ammunition from the same vendor between shootings.
