Fast paced, bloody and simple. Maybe a little too simple perhaps...

User Rating: 4 | Bloody Roar 4 PS2
Bloody Roar 4 is an arcade fighter game with a pretty sad legacy and a very limited audience due to the rating. Don't even ask about the storyline because it makes absolutely no sense at all, at anytime whatsoever. The ending will leave you hanging. By hanging I don't mean waiting for Bloody Roar 5, I mean stopping to think about what you just saw and heard. The voiceovers are downright terrible. They make Resident Evil's voice actors sound like Hollywood.

Aww, don't get so discouraged already! Sure, it has a few bumps on the road, but what saves the game here is the gameplay. It's extremely fast paced and constantly staying at a good framerate. They kinda ran out of ideas for animal transformations so they just started using monsters and were-iguanas. Plus, besides the regular game mode there is a...Career Mode? There you go from spot to spot on a very plain and uninteresting map kind of thing, fighting in battles and leveling your character up. The AI is really stupid and it just seems like a dumb idea altogether.

I finished the Arcade Mode in a good 10 minutes mainly because the CPU refused to fight back. I forced myself to play Career Mode and didn't have a single problem winning...over and over again. This is pretty much Bloody Roar 4 in a nutshell. A game that jumps for its goal and misses, mostly because it's too stupid to jump in the first place. I think you know now not to buy this.
