Great entry point to the Souls series, and a reason to get PS4 rather than XBox One

User Rating: 10 | Bloodborne PS4

Bloodborne was my first Souls game, basically a spinoff of Dark Souls, and it got me hooked. If you haven't played Souls before, this game is similar enough to Dark Souls to prepare you for the main series, but different enough both to be friendly to new players. Its slightly easier only because of a lack of equip limit. Nonetheless, it is faster pace than the main series.

For those who have played Dark Souls, the lack of shields, addition of firearms, and faster enemies will add a challenge. As mentioned, there is no equip load limit.

This series is also unlike anything else I had played, and its done very well. This game is also a shining example of why Sony PS4 is a better choice than XBox One - this game is exclusive to the console, has tons of replay value, because of both NG+, the Chalice Dungeons (not required to beat the story, but still fun and rewarding), and the DLC. Xbox One's main exclusives are Halo and Forza. This game, and Nioh as well, beats those anyday. In Bloodborne, like DS3, there's always something new to find on subsequent playthroughs. My only main complaint about Bloodborne is that the DLCs don't really add anything to the game, and there should've been more, as there was with DS3. Other than that, strongly recced.
