Blinx the Time Sweeper is a cute fun game made by Artoon. I wanted an Xbox so badly as a kid but never got one. Only my cousin had one. Harumph! So I was stuck Blinxless.
However thanks to luck and the Goodwill I was able to obtain it.
This is my review for Blinx The Time Sweeper.
STORY
Blinx has a fairly simple story. This game is very arcadey. You are Blinx, an anthropmorphic cat worked with the time sweepers. Controlling time. One day the evil piggies came down from the sky and stole time and citizens of Earth. Now Blinx himself and his trusty sweeper must save the world and time before it's too late.
There isn't a whole lot of story. This is like a classic Sonic team game. Night into Dreams. Because it's made by the guys who did Sonic but on a different team.
GAMEPLAY
Blinx is a 3D platformer. You control Blinx, he has a shirt shorts and goggles. He must run around the world saving time.
Blinx has a vacuum where he can suck in several things like trash and gems. The gems are the most integral part of the game. Get 3 moons and you'll create a pause, get 3 stars you'll get a fast forward, get 3 green diamonds and you'll get a record, and so on and so on. Each these gems will make you be able to warp the sands of time and solve puzzles and evade enemies or gain life!
You can also collect trash for cash.
What I don't get is how much the timer doesn't even matter in this game. You can reverse the timer or slow it down. It's just nonsense.
You can upgrade your vacuum at a shop and everything else. Health, item holders, and more. This can make Blinx more tedious but rewarding as you venture back to certain levels where you can get more gold. Tis' not an open world game. What also makes no sense is when I wanna upgrade a vacuum and I give the vender 2000 gold but I get nothing in return so I can't suck up a ton weight.
The platforming is rather limited but you'll like it anyway.
The combat involves Blinx sucking up trash and shooting it at a variety of enemies all are monsters or Piggies.
If Blinx falls and gets hurt he will reverse and start over.
GRAPHICS
The graphics of Blinx The Time Sweeper are very good considering they run on the OG Xbox. Everything is shiny and smooth. Very sharp and well lit. Blinx is cute and the worlds are rather colorful based on European cities and underwater scenes.
The Graphics are very nice but the camera is a bit annoying at times and tons of frame rate dips and chokes. I'm not sure if it was an optimization problem or the Xbox is not really meant to run these high end graphics.
SOUND
The sound in Blinx is rather delightful. Reminiscent of old Sonic games of the 90's. The voice acting isn't in English or in any language that is real. Whenever Blinx touches a wall he slides down going "Mew".
OVERALL
Blinx is a deep but deeply flawed game. But I think it should sit right next to Master Chief
