A sequel that's not afraid to fix things that didn't work.

User Rating: 8 | BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II 3DS
I played Calamity trigger for quite some time but I just couldn't seem to fully enjoy it, the online system was about as penetrable as Fort Knox and the story suffered. Not the actual story but rather making progress the idea of having to lose to complete a characters story is just dumb.

Thankfully Blazblue Continuum Shift addresses this issue both by removing it and making fun of it. So essentially it makes it the finest fighting game on the 3DS. Compared to its top competition Street Fighter 4 3D and Tekken 3D the game just has a lot more going for it mainly a great story.

Blazblue as a whole manages to have an in depth story that manages to make sense as well it helps that when something bad happens it feels like something big at one the main antagonist outsmarts a supercomputer by considering all potential outcomes and wins.

I have to admit I'm not one for mastering 12 hit combos that require 100% perfect timing at all times but I'm nice enough to say that having the option to learn them is certainly a welcomed.

Being able to switch from Technical layout how the game is normally played to stylish which are simple controls is also nice as some of those one hit kills are near impossible to pull off under normal circumstances.

The game also manages to have a great sense of humour too pretty much every character is a massive mess of anime and Japanese stereotypes in general and the gag endings in particular shine like a beacon of funny.

That being said Im going to try and avoid letting my experience and standards dominate the review mainly cause of two glaring flaws. As mentioned above the actual fighting is pretty darn relentless at times but never to the real point of frustration and the stylish option certainly fixes this. The other complaint is less for me cause I believe you should only play competitively if the opponent is within punching distance but the lack of proper online competition is a con to most people.

In short it's a sequel that wasn't afraid to fix things that just didn't work and it's easily the best 3DS fighter available by far.
