Blacklight: Wub Wub Edition

User Rating: 5 | Blacklight: Retribution PC
Blacklight is a better polished over the previous edition in all possible ways and now is F2P. This might sound too good to be true, infact is kinda true if your the type who play fps in a short burst and doesnt really want to invest money on it.

Blacklight payment scheme is quite similar with most F2P shooter MMOs from the Asian market. All equipment and customization is locked at the start and it takes forever to rank up and it reward free players very little credits and emphases on payed items. BL:R is no different, from the ghetto it had 2 separate payment system, 1 section to be paid and the other to be unlocked or rented using credits earn from played games. Earned credits is used as either renting equipment or could be used as exchange (free credits to paid credits, zen and ren?). Although i might sound good, earning credits feels like dumb grinding especially for shooters and you will get bored very soon as the content in this game is very limited. As a shooter, pay2win items dont really make the gameplay imbalance but it does help players with it to have a slight advantage over the others and some are just pure cosmetics.

BL:R didnt really change much over the previous version. Gunplay has been improved drasticly, with much smooth & realistic movement which is just on par with COD:MW. Infact, it plays quite like MW but with cyberpunk (syndicate) art style. Wallhacking is still available to anyone as much as i hate the idea, i wish they had tone it down drasticly or even limited it usage by making it an optional equipment. New addition of ingame "killstreak" system (aka most wanted) that could be only purchase from a autovendor using ingame credit/points, from ammo refill to calling down a mech thus give players some firepower advantage. The opposition team will be rewarded if the "most wanted player" is killed. This system rather similar to homefront MP.

BL:R has about 9 maps with more future content coming and each had 6-7 standard modes (TDM, KOTH, DOM....) and no coop this time, just solely competitive MP. Content wise is rather limited to keep players interested for long, what more to say to encourage players that bought the payed content to play.

Side note that Customization and equipment in BL:R is plentiful. Weapons mods to armour customization to killstreaks equipment can be purchase and customized. Graphics look good and on par with other shooters.

BL:R from the ghetto feels like a demo with with nearly everything else is an overpriced DLC. Well at least its free and forgettable.

Conclusion, Borderland style
