Bit Blaster XL is a unique hybrid of Asteroids, Space Invaders, with a little bit of Galaga and the texture of something more modern like Beat Hazard Ultra, all while still having an identity of its own. You take control of a small ship (to begin with) and blast away at comets at first, then some enemy ships, then many more difficult enemies as you ascend though the points. If you touch the edges of the screen you die, so there's no scrolling, and despite all of these limitations it really works, is very addictive, and is a fun game in its own right as well as being a throwback to space shooters of the C64 and ZX Spectrum era. There's a lot of satisfaction to be had in the numerous power-ups, upgrades, and achievements to had. Trading cards are included too.
