While Bioshock 2 is a fantastic game, to some degree it fell short of it's predecessor.

Bioshock 2 in some ways is a leap forward from it's predecessor. They streamlined the controls, gave us a new way to experience a world we thoroughly knew from the first game, and gave it better pacing. On top of all that, the story seems much more personal than it was in the first game. In other ways it failed. Bioshock one was a game that I could play through at least 3 times; it retained great replay value. On the other hand, Bioshock 2 became more of a chore to complete by the last two or three levels. One of the things that contributed to this was carrying around the little sisters. When you get a little sister you can carry them around to corpses and they will harvest adam. However, this means you have to defend them from an onslaught of splicers, which may be fun the first few times, but becomes infinitely frustrating when you're too low on ammo, money, and eve to do anything. You aren't required to harvest from corpses, but it gives you the most adam. I also felt like there was a missed opportunity at one point in the game to let you play as a big sister. Bioshock 2 is an exceptional game but isn't quite up to par with it's predecessor.
