Why my second trip to Rapture was better than the first.

Yes, I really did enjoy this one more than the first. The gameplay, the story, the environments, everything felt better.

Story: It was just a little better. In the first bioshock, I just felt like a tool the whole time, doing whatever people asked. Even once I became free from Fountaine, I still didn't really feel like someone. Delta felt much more real than Jack. The goal of finding your little sister you were bound to and to save her from Sophia, I really dug that. Sinclaire was also a more enjoyable character than Atlas. I just enjoyed the story in bioshock 2 more. Despite what people say, I felt more involved in this game.

Gameplay: Tons better. Weapons all feel powerful and upgraded, and dual wielding plasmids and guns feels so smooth, it's hard to imagine the first game didn't include this. The drill is much more fun than the wrench, the spear gun deadlier than the crossbow, and the machine gun more hefty than the last. The hack dart gun is a nice addition, and hacking is more fluent. Gene tonics are also more easy to organize now that they aren't in classes, and plasmid upgrades offer nice variety in using them. The tower defense like moments when you make your adopted little sister gather adam is lots of fun as well.

Environments: Not much change here, but there a couple great additions. Being able to walk outside rapture in the ocean is fantastic, and the one part in the game where you take control of a little sister and wander around, seeing the world in her eyes is fun. There are also situations when everything floods, and you get to walk around the area and see the change, now that you are a big daddy. Even simply having a little sister on your back adds to the atmosphere as you listen to her say things. Little enhancements make this games environments better than the last.

There were, no doubt, some things I felt could have been better. I felt like there was no way I would harvest a little sister, so I wish the game gave you another reason to kill them, because making them gather adam from bodies showed no shortage of upgrades for you. I also felt the game did a poor job of making you want to kill specific characters in the game, or, not kill this other guy. The game felt very one sided. Your choices also didn't really seem to matter in the game. I also felt like there should have been more enemies at some points when you make your little sister gather adam.

I really loved this game, and don't see why people complain it's story sucked, or Rapture is more boring. With fresh characters, enemies, and environments, visiting Rapture again proved to not only be worth it, but more rich and exciting than the first time.
