Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. For N64.

Midway seems to have a knack for fighting and other arcade games. I found it for 15 bucks...2 years after it was made..and picked it up without hesitation. Now, onto the review... The booklet gives you a nice story, but it seems to disappear after the game fights start. The story (to make it short) America was all but destroyed, and now instead of destroying the rest of it, the government made deal with the final industrial competitors, to have one mascot fight other mascots, and whoever wins, gets any and all land owned by the industrial competitor. What does Bio FREAKS stand for exactly? Biological Flying Robotic Enhanced Armored Killing Synthoids. And that they are. From a psycho clown, to a robotic bull, and a synthoid who loves doing what he does, but wishes he was human, to a really demented man who was nearly destroyed, and ripped out his micro-processor, and went freelance, and even a giant toad-like creature! Gameplay : The combos are hard to get off, and so are some of the moves, which aren't all listed. But, you can hover, which adds a whole new fun factor to this game. You can hover to different levels of the arena, if there are platforms to get onto, but you can only hover for so long before your hovering jets stall, and you fall to the ground (unharmed). You can throw opponents into parts of arenas, which in turn, hurts them, if there are damaging arena parts. Use mutilations, to REALLY hurt your opponents, either cutting off limbs, their head, or torso (the last 2 are instant deaths, but hard to pull off cause they're so slow to hit). Graphics : The graphics are AWESOME for this game!! The characters, and the arenas are really nice and smooth. Their mouths move when they talk, their fists glow when they go for a mutilation move, and you can see bones sticking out after a mutilation move..not to mention the blood loss..there's a VERY nice flow of blood constantly flowing freely from the missing limb. And with Bullzeye's decapitation move, the opponent even stumbles around for a good 7 seconds before falling. The arenas also sport their own looks..Psyclown's main arena is a deranged futuristic-looking circus tent, Bullzeye's arena is full of blades for throwing opponents into, Delta's has the Statue of Liberty's face in it, on fire, and on the other side, a flaming wall. Zipperhead's arena is a street flowing with lava..which you can throw, or knock someone into. There's even a special arena for practicing, a big cube-like..umm..cube...Each character has completely different looks, and there's 3 different classes of characters. There's synthoids, who are human looking, but can regenerate limbs, retros, who lost the ability of regenerating limbs, and now have weapons grafted to them, and then the final stage is Dozer, which is a complete robotic fighter who was too damaged to have any outside human appearance left. Bullzeye supports 2 guns, which he uses a lot, Delta looks like a big pixie, with metalic wings, and Zipperhead was beating horribly by Bullzeye, and is now a retro with a spiked mace as one hand, and a gun on the other, and a zipper in the middle of his head (hence his name) And Minatex is a dozer, a robotic bull-like character with a wrecking ball as a hand. There's 8 characters to choose from, in all. Sound : The sound is excellent too, with full voices. Even in the into scenes, when the characters are introduced before the fight. One of Sabotage's intros is her waving to the crowd, while the crowd cheers, and she turns, sees someone, takes out a javelin, throws it and accidentally kills a guy who grunts (different every time) and she says ''I lose more boyfriends that way''..that's my favorite :-) The crowd will boo when there's no action going on, and cheer a LOT when the blood flows. Music is great too. Great game, that at least deserves a rent, and for the price its at now, it shouldn't be that much of a hassle to buy...
