A triumph in the argument that games are more than just shooting and killing

User Rating: 8 | Beyond: Two Souls PS3

Completed Beyond: Two Souls, a PS3 exclusive from Quantic Dreams. For those who aren't familiar with games Quantic Dream games, they aren't traditional action games, but more like the Walking Dead game where it is all about making chan, interacting with characters and follow the road set by the story, while allowing you to change lanes every now and then.

The actors Ellen Page, William Dafoe provided AAA acting in their digital roles while the supporting cast did a stellar job no less. The visuals are fantastic with subtle character expressions are apparent and which, like films, play a big role in the narration and says a lot about the characters.

The script I felt was much better than Heavy Rain (the studios first game), although there I felt a bit of tiny inconsistencies here and there, but they are like I said, tiny. I personally enjoyed it from start to finish.

The only problem I had was the combat, which you need to push the analog to a certain direction in order to mimic what Jodie is doing to evade or attack. Sometimes it just felt impossible to tell the action and hence you would fumble and take hits, luckily you are forgiven for few mistakes.

With the kinda games Quantic Dream and Telltale makes, I really wish more and more studios made games similar to this one. A triumph in the argument that games are more than just shooting and killing.
