Oh crap, the memories!

God, I remember this game. It was seriously enjoyable when I was into Beyblades (Oh god, I was into Beyblades?!) back in the day and we would spend hours upon hours completing it. I don't know why I found it enjoyable back then, but I guess the feeling that "you are following a trend, so you're cool" was of fault.

But now, as I'm browsing through my old PS1 collection of (mostly, admittedly terrible) games, I now remember Beyblade as a boring, weird and WTF type of game. I mean, if people would still be playing this game today, it'd be a huge shocker. Seriously.

But another thing that actually makes this game suck are the controls. Oh wait, can you actually "control" the top? It's like you can just sit there and do nothing but watch whatever is happening on screen. Although at some point, you can actually defy physics and control the top slightly using the analog. It's a bit tedious because the response is a bit slow. And though I learned to live with that, it just pisses me off.

Another bad aspect to the game is that it doesn't provide an actual tutorial. We were like going through the single-player campaign (if it was even a decent one) and initially we were always mad when the AI defeated us using a "super power". We would eventually learn how to do this (although I can't remember now) and well, the ride was a cakewalk most of the time.

It may not be all that bad (the 2.0 score average) but it's as shallow as tie-ins can get. Good thing we bought it bootleg, lol.
