It's Devil May Cry with a chick (that strips when she fights, right on)!!!

To be begin with, I have to put out there that I like playing games of this genre, so I'll try not to be bias as much as possible during this review. Also, if you've played Devil May Cry and did not like the fast pace over-the-top game play, then this game is definitely not for you. Alright let's begin...

The story in Beyonetta is, as you probably could assume with these types of games, ridiculous and, for lack of a better word, cliched. For the first couple of chapters you'll probably be going "wtf is going on... what is the story?" But to sum it all up, a guy wants to reconfigure the world into a utopia, you're out to stop him. No I'm not giving away much of anything, you'll figure it out quite easily anyways. Thus, in conclusion, the story element of this game is... well... rather weak. While it is outrageous with you being a witch trying to protect the world, fighting with guns on your shoes, and making deals with Rodin (who's probably a demon) at his bar call "Gates of Hell", these details does little to make the story any more interesting.

But let be honest here... you're not getting this game for the story (well some of you may), you're getting it for the girl. I like women. I like women in tights, especially black tights. I like women who can kick some major ass. So a woman, in black tights, killing demons.... that **** is right up my alley, lol. Oh, did I mentioned she strips when she fights? Oh yes... that is always fun... Lol, sorry, that was the pervert in me speaking. Bayonetta is really a love or hate character. If you have the same likes (above) as I do, then welcome to the club pal, drinks are in the back. If you don't... then well, you're S.O.L, sorry.

Now let's get to the core of this game, the game play. It's fast.... VERY fast. The control is simple (Y - Hit, B - Kick, A - Jump, X - Shoot, RT - Evade). But underneath its simplicity is the fun. You have so many ways to dispatch your enemies in a wide array of combos. Bayonetta can equip weapons in her hands and feet (certain weapons), which allows for great experimentation and different combination of combos. While you may survive and progress through the story by mindlessly attacking head-on at an enemy, your score will reflect your performance. So if you're the competitive type, you can put your reflex and skills to the test as you rank yourself against others on the leader board. Then there's the boss fights; personally, I like the creativity of the bosses in this game. To me, they seem rather refreshing, and the fights are challenging and fun. The level designs are over the top as well. One moment you may be right side up, then the next, you may be walking up the side of a building or flying through the air.

Anything else worth mentioning? The replay values... being that games cost upward of $60 these days, is this game worth your money? If you like games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, this game will be to your liking. Overall, I beat this game in a little over 12 hours on my first run, mainly because I was quite the noob and died a lot, lol. But after you finish, you can go back through again at a harder difficulty, or to simply raise your score for the chapter. There's quite a lot of uncrackable such as costumes, accessories, and weapons for you to enjoy. So if you do not mind replaying the same stages over and over to better yourself or unlock items then I have to say yes, it is worth your $60. If you're the type to play a game once just to enjoy it and move on, then rent it and see how you like it first. And as a last warning, if you do not like fast pace games, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, or of the like, then STAY AWAY!
