Picture this: you are an amphibian with metal wrist bands and while you aren't ripping legs from your enemies and beating them with it, your hands and feet are turning into things that are found in most power tool sections of home improvement stores and beating up on rat-people. Oh, and really sweet guitar riffs are wailing in the background... and did I mention hover bikes and snakes?

This game is crazy. This game is awesome. This game will drive you insane due to the difficulty, but you'll keep coming back for more.

Why? Because this is Battletoads!

Battletoads, the first in a series of similar games, is a side scrolling beat-em-up that also has some challenging racing and puzzle levels that truly test your mental skill and dexterity. At the time it came out, it was also one of the best looking and sounding games on the market. And it even had a really funny commercial! Everything about this game is just rad.

You can play either one or two player co-op through this game and you can count on playing through multiple times because you are going to die a lot. But the difficulty makes the game fun because the learning curve is so tight that even a child can master Battletoads over time.

The game is simple in approach and just full of fun. The creative action and style of this game made violence hilariously satisfying and the difficulty tests the most hardcore players even to this day. If you into difficult games like Ninja Gaiden and you like old-school beat-downs like River City Ransom or Double Dragon, chances are you will love Battletoads.
