This games primitive look and lazy level design, make it one of the most mundane action titles on the Gameboy Color.

The back story of Battletanx is extremely cool. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic America, militant factions have taken territories for themselves and defend it to the death in war machines. The fact that you are looking for your missing girlfriend is an afterthought amidst the chaos. Unfortunately that is the only thing that makes this game appealing. The gameplay itself is as generic as a video game can possibly be. Throughout every level you literally just tumble around in your tank and shoot in the direction of the bad guys while they shoot in yours. What is an already dull and mundane game is made worse when you have to backtrack through the narrow paths because of the roadblocks that keep the player from getting to the objective to fast or having any fun. Indeed this game is a stinker through and through. I can recommend the console version of Battletanx on the grounds that it is a campy "blow things up" game with decent graphics. I cannot however recommend this version because the gameplay is too liner and the value too low. If you are looking for vehicular action and combat I will direct you anywhere but here to this boring and lazily designed game.
