A good game that could have been better with a lot of things changed

I decided to play this game after buying and finishing Bad Company 2 (which for the record is an awesome game), and expected it to be pretty much the same, however I was disappointed with this game, and the more i played it, the more frustrating and worse it got (this is actually an edit of the review, because this has annoyed me so much i had to add more about it)

the main point i want to add since trying to complete the campaign some more is that the checkpoint system in this game is utterly useless; its so annoying when attempting it on hard, and the game expects you to make it back across the entire map (which you have just spent the last 2 hours completing the other way) to complete the level, and until you get to a save point located miles away, if you die, you get sent straight back to where you started. often i had to compete with this numerous times just to make it to the save point because the enemies can spot you from miles away, even through cover, and launching a grenade right next to the guy wont kill him, because these enemies are invincible, just makes it ridiculous. add to this that the game doesnt respawn vehicles, and so once you have failed about 4 times, you have no vehicles left to use, and so have to trek it across the map until you find one; this can be very tiresome, and will end up making you want to quit the game. oh and add to this a helicopter that just randomly spawns to make your life a living hell, and you got the most annoying game of all time, its impossible to shoot down even with a missile launcher, and if you are unlucky enough not to have one, well then you are pretty much screwed...

firstly, I had got used to the controls from BC2 and liked them, but when I got to BC they seemed all over the place, and as far as I can see, they cant be changed (I cant really say this is a fault, but it ruined my enjoyment of the game a bit)

with the gun selections, only being able to carry 1 gun and either an under barrel grenade launcher or some grenades is stupid, why I cant carry 2 guns (at least) like in virtually every shooter is beyond me, it makes the game too difficult at points, and also not having grenades all the time seemed ridiculous as well.
it also puzzled me that with some guns, you couldn't look down the iron sights properly, making it that bit harder to kill an enemy from range

the enemies also seemed to lock onto you from miles away, constantly hitting you with any gun, and having exceptionally high health; it would take half a clip sometimes to kill them if it wasn't a headshot!

also, for PS3 players who like trophies, completing the campaign on hard does not unlock the trophies for completing it on normal, which was really a down point of the game when I found this out

however, there is good about this game; the health restore feature is pretty neat, allowing you to inject yourself to get back to full health, but then taking time to be have it reload and do it again. this made the game enjoyable, as it kept you alive, but also challenging, because you couldn't just run and gun as it took time to reload.
also when you die, you spawn back to a previous place where the game saved, however any enemies you killed or houses/vehicles you destroyed stay destroyed, meaning if you are finding a certain bit hard, you can slowly reduce the enemy forces if you keep dying, and eventually you will succeed.

I have not tried online play, and so this is only a review about the single player, and whilst I like the game, having played BC2 first, I am comparing this game to BC2, which is by far a better game. you may get a little frustrated with this game, but the problems it has aren't anything really major, and its worth a go
