Broken controls, extremely repetive gameplay, and techinal issues make this game a heartbreaking mess of a game.

User Rating: 2.5 | Battlefield: Bad Company 2 IOS
I hate FPS games. It's either because of technical issues, taking graphics over gameplay, or simply it's just the same game with a fresh coat of paint. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is no exepction.

The gameplay is bad. You play this slow-paced shooter that encourages you to shoot everything you see through the badly designed levels...most of the time. Sometimes, you are encouraged to use stealth, but thankfully, it is rare, considering that the stealth system is broken. Sometimes, they'll see you from an impossible angle while you're hiding behind very tall cover a rock. Other times, they're complete idiots, as I used a sniper rifle with no silencer and then shoot the guy in front of a soldier, and the guy watching him doesn't even notice! The game is very slow-paced, as I said, and the AI is a complete joke. I once stood up right next to an oil barrel, and let 10 enemies shoot me. They couldn't kill me, and they completely missed the oil barrel. I stood there some more. Finally, 3 minutes and 12 seconds later, they finally killed me. On HARD mode. Which is odd, considering the tanks have the most accurate shots ever. They can shoot me a mile away at an impossible angle while I'm crouching behind cover and fumbling with the controls. We'll get to that in a minute. The online is the most horrendus online mode I've ever seen in a game, even worse than Brawl. Hey, it took forever for me to find a match in Brawl, but at least lag was at a minimum. In this game, however, I can find a match easily, but the lag is unberable. At the very best, I can kill someone 10 seconds after I died. At the very worst, I can't even respawn.

The controls are awful. They have three options, but all of them suck. I used the third option, which is you move the control stick on the left to move, slide along the touch screen to aim, and press the bullet icon to shoot. The aiming is very under-sensitive, even at 100% sensitivity. If you swipe really fast across the screen, the most your character will move his aim is just looking right at a 35 degree angle. Apperently, I've read somewhere you can run in the game, but I was never able to pull it off because the game's tutorial wouldn't tell me, and even after fooling around a little bit, I couldn't do it. The virtual control stick works, and so does the bullet icon, at least. Scoping is terrible, since your character's aim will move even SLOWER. And you can also crouch by tapping the icon of a soldier. Though you never need it, because as I said, the AI is a joke.

The graphics are OK. However, it comes with a crapload of technical issues. For one, framerate is horrible. It will constantly drop and will even crash the application. NBA Jam had much better graphics and a consistent framerate, so why can't this game? And if you're saying that it's unfair to compare this game to NBA Jam, it's not because they're both published by EA.

The music? Aside from the OK title screen theme, there is none. F--k.

At least this game only costed me a buck.

THE VERDICT!

For this review, I'm dropping the score-affecting factor.

Pros:

Um, it only costed me a buck
OK Graphics

Cons:

Repetive gameplay
Badly designed levels
Horrendus AI
Very slow-paced
WAY TOO EASY
Bad Stealth System
Worst Online I've Ever Seen In A Game
Horrible Controls
Framerate Sucks
ALMOST NO MUSIC

That should be a sign of what's to come if you play this game. Do me a favor, don't fall into the greedy hands of EA, and stay away from this awful game.

FINAL SCORE:

2.5 out of 10 (Horrible)
