Bad To The Bone !
Your team comprises of Sarge , Sweetwater , Haggard and Marlowe(yourself) . All of them have been excellently voiced and carry with them a good amount of humor in the battlefield . They all portray personality and charm in what the speak , how they speak and how they react to each others banters . Of course none of these would suffice if they turned out to be stiff and clunky in combat . However its very assuring to find that they are just as indulging and exciting to have on your side when the guns start roaring from both ends .
Your AI teammates will spot enemies advancing towards your location . They would probably shoot down a few in case you are taking cover reloading from moment to moment . But they never take away the tension of the missions or the frantic gun play experience from the player . Add a 70's hippie named Flynn who just signed up as your pilot and you have bought yourself a straight ticket to some high octane mayhem .
You and your companions shoot your way through dense green jungles , lush river valleys , islands , deserts , snow capped mountains , submarines , tightly barricaded roads and outposts , quaint towns and places where death and destruction is plenty and constantly on the look out . The level designs are excellent , varying from mission to mission and often enemy encounters are sudden and decisive upon your training skills .
The smoke and dust rising from torn down buildings and war ravaged locals , dust travelling across miles of untamed desert valleys , the chilling winds of the snowy provinces diminishing the line of sight around you . Everything will immerse you in the atmosphere heavy gameplay of Bad Company 2 .
The story doesn't reinvent the wheel by any means but all the action packed moments and satisfying gameplay that you surge your way through till you reach the end of the game will keep you on your toes and in the heart of the action
It would be a sin not to mention that the audio for Bad Company 2 is a marvel . Its those rare moments of overwhelming awesomeness when everything is blowing up around you and the audio feeds every shattered piece of destruction into your ears in crystal clear frequencies . You would feel numbed when things explode nearby sending captivating audio impulses to your brain feeding your hallmark gameplay experience . There are also those quieter moments when you are can distinguish the crunching of your boots staining the soil of a serene river valley or jungle . If things are not going loud in these situations you can ever hear birds chirping around you . And that's a rare and lively feeling in a game universe .
The single player campaign could take you somewhere around 7 - 8 hours max to complete . The multiplayer seems promising although it was an embarrassment not finding a single server with playable pings . Best one i could find kicked me after a minute in the game stating my pings are beyond 300 and unplayable . Although i tried my luck on a few other servers i couldn't satisfy my urge for some proper Bad Company 2 multiplayer . I simply blame it on the absence of local servers . Case closed .
But that's fine considering the single player was a lot of fun . It felt short but rather sweet . The characters that fuel this game are enthralling and memorable .The destruction physics and the sharp sound design are a cut above the rest . The gun play is fast paced and fluid . The single player maps are seemingly huge but they vary greatly when it comes to player freedom . Some places may seem impossible to traverse . But the levels themselves feel intricately constructed and the level of available freedom works fine . Anyone itching to try out Battlefield :Bad Company 2's thrill ride should get on board asap . And do not forget to tie your seat belts because Bad Company 2 is bound to rock you .
