It is insane how after 7 years this game still has the fan base it has. Most servers die down after just a few years of play, however you can still log on BF2 and find 10 full 64 player servers. The graphics are a bit out dated but were amazing in their prime seven years ago. Gameplay is immersive and tense at times. You often find yourself being hunted by enemy helicopters when trying to hide and destroy support assets in their main base. Little things like that make this a truly immersive MP experience. I would definitely recommend playing this game, and at less than 40 bucks for the complete game with booster packs and expansion it is a bargain. Battlefield 3 truly has some big shoes to fill, but I am sure it will not disappoint and raise the bar for modern FPS shooters such as its predecessor BF2 did.
