Decent fps, that is a little different to what you might expect

Once again I get a game that turned out different to what I expected. I was looking for a change of fps to play, something modern without battling aliens and other evil creatures, and that's exactly what I got with Battlefield Modern Combat, because it isn't your everyday fps.

Its a different type of war shooter, and may take some getting used to. The idea of the game is not to run around as a lone player, and take on whatever the enemies throw your way, and after a few minutes or so of dying this way, you realise you have to use the hot swap feature to switch between all your team members on the field. although it may seem odd, the feature is quite good, and once you get used to it, can be really helpful in completing the mission, or getting that quick kill as the enemies try and evade the current person you are controlling.

The levels are varied, but in the end they all feel the same. Often it feels like an arcade shooter, because you defeat an area of enemies, and then a load more spawn in all at once, and so feels like the levels are put in stages. Also sometimes the levels are so hard and make it unclear of what you are supposed to be doing, that I had to look at an online walkthrough, just to help me finish the level. They can be boring aswell, this is not a game I can play for a long time, and after a couple of missions I usually end up turning it off or switching to another game, just because the story isn't that great, and doesn't keep me interested in the game for long.

One thing I did like about the game however was the achievements, I thought this was a fun thing to try whilst playing through the campaign. Also, the challenges add to the single and multiplayer modes, and so there is always something to do in the game, even if all the missions are complete. I am not a big fan of replaying missions on games, but with this it will be worth replaying to beat your score/stars earned from the previous time, and also to try and win all the awards, which a certain level might be ideal for

Overall this isn't a bad game, and one i will continue to play. If you want a shooter that is a bit more tactical, then this is definitely for you.
