The absolute best superhero game ever. Period.

User Rating: 9.5 | Batman: Arkham Asylum PS3
First off, let me start off by saying that I am a long-time Batman fan, but I'm just looking at this game at face value. There are some MAJOR SPOILERS in here, so if you haven't beaten it yet, I suggest you don't read on unless you don't care.

:: PROS ::
- Combat system is great. The whole freeflow aspect really gives fighting a new, fresh feel. Thumbs up!
- Graphics/Voices/Controls - All the technical stuff is on point without a doubt. Voice acting is phenomenal
- A lot of great moments/additions (The Scarecrow segments were awesome, the child Bruce Wayne scene was great, addition of the Batcave was nice, the references to Bat's most popular villains within the Riddles)
- The stealth aspect of the game really puts it over the top for me. Sure you can just run through levels and possibly survive getting shot at but the whole "think like Batman" aspect of it really kept me hooked
- The story itself was cool. Not the most original idea for a Batman story, but still very good.
- The gadgets were awesome. I didnt know there would be so many!
- Huge replay value with all the extras and collectibles

:: CONS ::
- I know what people are going to say, but for some reason the lack of Two-Face and The Riddler (as a character) kinda disappointed me. I see how with the style of the game it may be hard to implement them as bosses but it's definitely possible. It's just the fan-boy in me wishing they were involved lol.
- Some of the boss fights were repetitive and, for lack of a better word, easy.
- Speaking of boss fights, I feel like there werent enough! You fight Bane, Scarecrow (3 times), Croc, Ivy, and Joker. Techincally the fights with Scarecrow and Croc arent really "fights" (I dont consider hiding behind walls or running on wooden planks a boss fight.. nor do I count Zsasz).. so thats really only 3 major bosses in the game. Which goes back to me wishing there were more villains included.
- It seemed somewhat short. I played through it pretty quickly but it still seemed to fall a little short in the length category.
- The final boss fight with the juiced up Joker was somewhat predictable and kind of disappointing. It was easy, short, and the ending scene wasn't as extravagant as I thought it would've been

That's basically it for the good & the not-so-good. Honestly, nothing about this game was "bad" to me. Some things were over the top phenomenal and other things were just so-so. Overall, this game is a must-have! It's fun, it's well thought out, and it really captures the true essence of Batman.

Final score: 95 out of 100
