Wow a RPG that's good on PS2

User Rating: 9.2 | Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PCCW The Best) PS2
Game play is terrific. Spells are very easy to access and a very good hack and slash feel. The controls are nice and well done. Camera angles are readjustable and very good as well. This hack and slash rpg feel is very good especially if your not a huge fan of turn based strategy(like FFX). You also get a co cop mode which was totally fun and cool especially if you have a brother or a sister to play co op on it with(like me).Unfortunately theres no versus mode which made it lose out on a bit when it came down to game play. All in all game play equals a 9.

Graphics are pretty good in game. Matter in fact PS2 standard wise terrific. There aren't a lot of cinematics throughout the game. Also the cinematics could have had more work done on em though, that is why graphics get a 9.

Sounds are terrific you hear that sound of blood splattering and etc. The spells sound realistic enough as well. Your character also saids some weird stuff sometimes when they do a spell which is fairly cool. the dubbing is fairly good but sometimes it's off here and there which makes the game get a 9 when it comes down to sound.

The value is tremendous it's very very fun. Definitely an Rpg worth playing. You won't be disappointed. There's also a mod where you can play through the whole game over again with stronger monsters and better item drops. Unfortunately you won't be able to take any of your items that you have on you to the next time you play through again which is a bummer. But you get to go and raise your characters level and etc. All in all replay value is extremely high. Some of the down sides to the story is that your character does not talk. Matter in fact when you go through the story it's sorta like a go here and vanquish all the enemies through that gate! It's just a game with a bunch of objectives not a real story. Which loses it's self out in that area... Also you can't do some self exploring as well. It's sorta like everywhere you go is just a place you go through while your fulfilling your objectives. Which stinks...but it's true. Also another thing you should know is that unlike the Final Fantasy series monsters don't re spawn so don't plan on training constantly in the same area. Which makes me give this game a 8 when it comes down to value.

I personally found it a very very rewarding Rpg experience. especially since I was able to spend over 20 hours on it. It gave me something to do it was fun and I was able to train my character. Fun Factor would have to be 10/10 depending on your tastes. I personally got a hack and slash/training feel and fun co op out of it. Funny thing is, is that I spent $20 buying this game at Wal Mart and I got a lot more out of the game then I expected from it. Which makes me want to give it a 10 when it comes to my opinion.
