Avernum is a great game if you don't care about graphics. But it rendering sucks. But its good for an RPG.
If you want your games to look and feel beautiful don't even think about playing this game. It's for those who can "appriciate" the "effort" that goes in making such a gigantic game. There is always a monster who is better than you. Visit the official site to learn how to play safer and faster. I finally did it with a team made of NPCs (Non-Player Characters)... yes you can do it... even if it's not an online game.
I recommend this game if you want to fully engage yourself... if what interests you most in an RPG is its soul... the element of killing the monsters with maximum efficiency.. with loosing as little as possible... while gaining as much experiance as possible.
