Best Atelier Game So Far

User Rating: 10 | Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland NS

I first discovered Gust back in 2017 and made an effort since then to play every Atelier JRPG game that came out starting with Atelier Sofie. After playing all of the Mysterious Trilogy Games as well as all of the Arland Trilogy games, I have to say this one is the best. Atelier Lulua is a sequel game that takes place after the Arland Trilogy games. Lulua is the daughter of the previous main protagonist of, Atelier Rorona. Lulua is an alchemist that wants to surpass her mother mastery of alchemy. The story has you team up with friends that Lulua makes and the fate of the world ultimate rests in her hands. My first playthrough took me around 50 hours to beat the game. The artwork by Mel Kishida is amazing as always. The music is also phenomenal as with all Gust games. Lulua is a likable and relatable character who is definitely a joy to play as. I played the demo of this game for both the PS4 and the Switch and I found the Switch version performed a bit better. I noticed a few glitches in the PS4 version. Previous knowledge is not really necessary to enjoy Atelier Lulua. Playing the previous Arland games was a bit of a chore because of time limits restricting what you can do in the game. Thankfully Atelier Lulua does not have any time limits, so you can take as long as you want to play the game. I would highly recommend Atelier Lulua for the Nintendo Switch or PC.
