Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana- My First Review

User Rating: 10 | Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana PS2
Intro- What can I say? I absolutely adored this game! The graphics are obviously outdated with it being a PS2 game and some say the mechanics are outdated too. I, however, did not think so! That being said, I will review in three categories: story, characters, and overall feel of the game. We'll begin with story. Story- I won't lie. As much as I love the game, the story is simple and could have been better. Very linear plot line in my opinion. If you love a complex story with many twists and turns, this may not be your game! Characters- Here is where the game shines! The characters are adorable and so very charming. They give the game a light-hearted feel and you just want to keep getting to know them more. This is one of those rare games where I liked every playable character. And there are a handful of side quests that help the NPCs grow on you too! I do want to add that I played the game in English and the voice acting was actually decent compared to many dubs! Overall Feel- This game is great for immersion or if you want to forget a bad day! The alchemy portion of the game is fun and relaxing at the same time. The combat, while improved in later entries of the Atelier franchise, is pretty good and easy to get the hang of. I should add this is not a "challenging" game so if you're looking for that, again this may not be for you. Conclusion- As you can tell, I loved this game, even though it is an acquired taste. It is very underrated in my opinion! I say if you don't need a challenge and appreciate simplicity, pick up this game pronto!
