This is just flat out fun

Asura's wrath is more of a movie than a game. Not to say that there isn't a decent amount of gameplay but it is more of an interactive movie. Asura's wrath follows Asura on his quest to get revenge for the death of his wife and to save his daughter. Unfortunately he fails and get killed. Luckily for him his anger is so great that he comes back from the land of the dead to continue his quest. he fails and dies again. Once again his anger brings him back. Kinda reminds me of another anger guy who slays mythological beings on his quest for vengence.

As I said before Asura's wrath is more of a movie than a game. It takes a very cinematic approach and it also takes an episodic approach. The thing that makes this different from other episodic games is that all of the episodes are on the disc and you don't have to wait a couple of months in order to continue the game. If you have played games like beyond two souls you know exactly what you're in for. This game has a lot of QTEs or quick time events. However, this is one of the few instances of quick time events done right. Basically when you fight a boss instead of the boss having a health meter you have a rage meter and the more damage you deal the more the rage meter fills. When the meter hits maximum it'l kauch you into an awesome cinematic Quick Time Event and if you pull it off you'll defeat the boss. There are few other enemy types besides bosses but you'll really only be fighting bosses.

What makes this game great though are the bosses. Because these bosses are absoulutely incredible. WIth the very first boss of the game being the size of the planet and the very next on literally dwarfing the planet. The fights just keep getting cooler as you go on with one fight taking place on the moon against a guy who literally impales you through the earth!!!!

What also make this game great is that it has a pretty good sense of humour. Now the humour isn't permeating the game there are only a few instances of it but the few jokes hit their mark and are generally funny. For example right before the start of a couple of boss fights th villain will do the cilche of monolouging. UGGGGGG I wish I could just shut this guy up with my fist and start the fight already. When the game actually lets you do this because with one button push you can rush forward and get a punch in before the fight even starts dealing damage to the boss.

Unfortunately even though this game is ridiculously fun it does have a few issues. For example the normal non quick time event combat get repetitive because there are only about three different atttacks to use. In long boss fights when you're trying to fill up the rage meter in order to launch the QTE the reptitive normal combat makes the fight a boring slog to get to the cool part.

That being said Asura's wrath has some of the most insanely epic over the top boss fights I have ever seen in a game. All in all even with the at times repetitive combat this game is still insanely fun. This is a game for anyone who wants to play through an episode of Dragonball z. This is a game for anyone who wants to play a game where one attack can make your jaw drop to the floor and the inner 9 year old in you jump up and down at how cool that was. It's not essential but it definitely has my recommendation
