An interesting take on the original, but I don't think it beats the original.
When I heard that they were making a sequel to the game on the Playstation, I was skeptical, but I picked it up anyway. I knew that it would obviously have better graphics than the original, and would probably add some new stuff in. When I played it, I was surprised at how much it didn't disappoint me. There were a bunch of new weapons to choose from, there were a few new ships, and there was more stuff to destroy than just plain asteroids. I also liked how they included the original game.
The most fun I had with this game was definetly the last level, where you have to shoot the asteroids jetting toward the earth to save it from total annihalation. I knew that the original Asteroids never had anything like that, I it was pretty satisfying when you beat the game and it said that you saved to earth from total destruction.
Overall, this version of Asteroids was not a bad sequel. Even though nothing beats the original, I was actually really surprised at how fun this game was.
