Asphault Gt is one of the best handheld titles to date ever made so far. With lots to do in this game, fun never ends!

User Rating: 8.4 | Asphalt: Urban GT DS
GAMECAMILLER review- Asphalt Urban GT(DS) concept: 8.2 Race through modern city streets in licensed model automobiles in this high-tech racing game that can be played by yourself or against others in multiplayer modes. Also, up to 4 players can race against each other in a selection of DS wireless communication multiplayer modes through multi-pack support (no single pack support). Choose to race through the busy streets of New York City, Miami, Las Vegas, Paris and Tokyo. Or choose the palm lined streets on the island of Cuba, the airstrip at the Bogotá Airport, the sandy terrain of Chernobyl in the Ukraine, or a USA Speedway, while avoiding other cars ont eh road and various obstacles that block your way.. Pick your car from numerous models: Aston Martin, Shelby Cobra Concept, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford GT, Hummer, Jaguar, Lotus Exige, several Lamborghinis and Volkswagen Beetle and more. There’s over 25 cars you can get in this game, not to mention multiples of cars to store in your garage in evolution mode. You also have access to an garage to tweak these cars. Over 30 modifications can be applied to your car for performance or just for looks. Sound: 7.0/10 The background music ranges from “classic” car racing music with titles such as “Burning Rubber” to pretty average rock music. There all pretty enjoyable tracks, through most of the music is pretty forgettable. Not many of them either, only 7 in all, plus the option to turn all music off. The car sounds aren’t bad but not that great either. In and every car uses the same set of sounds while driving. So your Hummer doesn’t sound different at all from your roadster. It would be nice to hear a diff variety between the car sounds. controls- 8/10 When your driving in Asphalt Gt the controls are near perfect and simple. The respond perfectly and just about anyone can pick up this game and learn how to play simply. The controls aspect, makes Asphalt one of the easiest racing games yet for anyone. The game follows a simple “arcade” interface set of controls. The arrow pad is used to steer your car. B button is used to Accelerate, X button is used for a horn, Y is used for your break, and the a is used to get a turbo speed boost blast. The L and R buttons are used to stroll through various views you can see, such as full screen, rear-view mirror, and bumper cam. Now your probably asking “why didn’t you give the controls a ten then if their so simple and perfect?” Well it’s with it’s touch screen use. It pretty much has none. You can use to select the menu options, but why bother? Use the control pad it’s much easier. So you could basically play this game and never use the stylus. Why put a game out on the DS that doesn’t have a good touch screen support? The bottom screen is mainly used for a map, and menu choices. Seems a little “wasteful”. That’s why I knock two points off. “Game” Tip: Push the select button to turn your headlights on and off. Difficulty: depends on the level you play it at (on arcade mode, you can set the difficulty from 1 to 10). Evolution mode gradually gets harder, but overall it’s not too hard for you to overcome it. The Cop Chase mode, by far is the hardest mode at of the whole game; be glad to even beat those arcade levels. Graphics- 8.5/10 One thing you can say about GT is that for a launch game, it looks very good. It’s totally 3D with an excellent refresh rate; the game is as fun to play as is to look at it. The cars are detailed, through they don’t look as great as the cars in Ridge Racer Ds (it’s competition). Through in backgrounds, the details are fantastic and the tracks are greatly designed. replay ability- above average 8.5/10 One thing that I love about GT is that tracks were designed in such a way that when you play them, you never ever seem to get bored of them. Very few racing games can even achieve this. And well this is much needed, cause you’ll be visiting the locations over and over in Evolution mode. The game Also offers various Arcade modes, such as Instant play (tack car, and race set up already for you), Road Challenge (compete in a series of 5 races), Free race, Time Attack (fastest lap on a track), and the ever fast, fun, and darn hard Cop Chase mode. My only problem is that the game is a bit too easy even on the hardest difficulty level. Luckily the extras make up for this. Extras- 8.0 This game has a lot more unlikable, which adds to the replay value. You can unlock tons of different car styles in arcade mode, and different cars in evolution mode. Your going to have to play every mode, and with every car to unlock everything. That’s a lot to do. As I stated earlier, “There’s over 25 cars you can get in this game, not to mention multiples of cars to store in your garage in evolution mode. You also have access to an garage to tweak these cars. Over 30 modifications can be applied to your car for performance or just for looks.” entertainment 9/10 The one thing I love this game, is how enjoyable it is. every time I play it I have fun. Weather it’s hitting a car, or beating my buds in multiplayer mode, or getting that sweet new car, the game just has that “fun” inexperience. I must say “this is prolly the best hand held racing game released so far”. I’ve played many others on my Gameboy and SP but they pale in comparison to this game. Even ridge racer DS (which is a good game in it’s own right) just cannot top the overall value and fun this game has. The pros and cons part: Pros: 1. Lots of cars to play 2. Lots of unlikable and stuff to do 3. The game is just a lot of fun! =P 4. Easy to adapt to Cons: 1. Only 4 peeps for multiplayer 2. No single cart download 3. Poor use (“non use” rather) of the touch screen capabilities. 4. The game is a bit too easy even on it’s hardest level. For DS Price: $30 bottom line- 8.4/10
