The first trailer for the 16-bit Dead Island game Retro Revenge has been released. Posted on PlayStation's YouTube channel, the video finally tells us what the story is all about, and it may not be what you expect.

You play as a man whose cat and car were stolen by zombies. Naturally, the next step is revenge. "Now it's time to make these jokers pay," the character in the video says. Take a look:

The voice of the main character sounds like it could be Jack Black, but this is not confirmed.

Retro Revenge is the third game included with the $40 Dead Island Definitive Collection, the other two being remastered versions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.

The Definitive Collection will be available physically and digitally on May 31 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Also on that date, Deep Silver will release each game individually through PSN and Xbox Live for $20 each. If you want physical versions, you need to buy the Collection. However, it remains to be seen if Retro Revenge will be sold on its own.

In other news about the Dead Island franchise, development on Dead Island 2 has resumed, with LittleBigPlanet developer Sumo Digital taking over for Yager. Additionally, Deep Silver has teased that it will make a "major announcement" at E3, though this may not necessarily be about Dead Island.
