Zombieland Sequel Gets A Release Date

Rule #2, the double tap.

Comments

A sequel to the beloved Zombieland movie was recently given the green light by Sony Entertainment. Now, it's being reported that the release date for the film is set for October 11, 2019.

The original movie follows Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) as they make their way through zombie-ridden America, encountering Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), along the way. The quirky group of four decide to head to California together, where they run into Bill Murray, who plays himself in a hilarious and dark cameo.

Now Playing: Zombieland 2 Is Happening In 2019 With Original Cast And Director - Gamespot Universe News Update

After the sequel got the green light, it was announced that all four original protagonists agreed to be in it, and the original director Ruben Fleischer will direct again. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of the original as well as the Deadpool movies, are also coming back to write the sequel. Since so many people are returning, let's cross our fingers that the sequel will be just as good as the original.

The first movie was released September 25, 2009, which means the sequel will be coming out close to the 10 year anniversary of Zombieland. Hopefully there are still some Twinkies left for Tallahassee after a decade. Production for the Zombieland sequel is expected to begin in January 2019.
