Comments

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Bubbul Gems are a type of currency obtainable from specific enemies in the game world. However, at the start, you won't really know what to do with them since you need to find a specific character. Here's our guide to help you trade your Bubbul Gems with Koltin in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to find Bubbul Gems

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Bubbul Gems are dropped by Bubbulfrogs. These are large toads with a distinct ghostly white coloration. These creatures also tend to be found underground, either in caves or wells. In fact, almost every cave in the game has a Bubbulfrog hiding therein. Once you see one, shoot it from afar, then pick up the Bubbul Gem that it drops.

It's said that there's a Bubbul Frog in every cave, and maybe in some wells and tunnels, too.

Where to find Koltin, the Bubbul Gem trader

You'll learn that someone's looking for these Bubbul Gems, and they'll happily give a reward for the currency. To find this particular trader, you'll need to head to the Woodland Stable in Eldin. It's due northwest of Lookout Landing.

There, you'll see a vibrant and bodacious multicolor cart, which is where you'll meet Kilton and Koltin. It's the latter who wants those gems that you have. The first time you trade one of these to him, you'll receive the Bokoblin Mask. When worn, it's possible to confuse Bokoblins to prevent them from attacking you.

Starting the Search for Koltin

After that first meeting, Koltin will disappear, though Kilton leaves a clue. This begins the Search for Koltin quest chain. You're told to head to Tarrey Town in Akkala, which is further east of the Woodland Stable.

There, you're informed that Koltin will set up shop in the evening, on a hill across from the lake. It's actually just below the Ulri Mountains Skyview Tower. As such, you could just wait until it's around 9 p.m., whereupon Koltin's multicolor cart will appear. Your next trade, two Bubbul Gems this time, will net you a Moblin Mask (which might confuse those types of enemies).

In any case, this is how you can trade the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Bubbul Gems via Koltin. You'll keep repeating this process: find and kill Bubbul Frogs -> find and trade with Koltin, with the required amount increasing each time -> earn a unique armor piece.
