Now Playing: GS News Update: Zelda Breath Of The Wild Master Trials DLC Unlocks Tonight

The first downloadable content for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now just hours away. The Master Trails is slated to launch tomorrow, June 30, but it'll actually arrive on the Eshop a bit sooner, depending on where you live.

A Nintendo spokesperson confirmed with GameSpot that The Master Trials unlocks tonight at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET, at least in the United States. That means a good portion of the country won't have to wait until it's actually Friday to start playing.

The Master Trials will be available for both the Switch and Wii U versions of Breath of the Wild. Its most significant addition is the Trial of the Sword, a 45-room challenge that powers up the Master Sword. It also introduces a harder difficulty mode, an item that allows you to create a fast-travel point anywhere, a system that tracks where you've been, new outfits, and more.

This is the first of two DLC expansions on the way, with the other being the Champions' Ballad pack, which is due out later this year. That includes a new story chapter centered around the other four champions from Link's era. These DLC packs are not sold individually; they're only available through the $20 season pass. If you're playing on Wii U, you may be faced with a larger download than the one on Switch.

For fucks sake Nintendo! This company has got be the stupidest most shit hole of a company on the planet. Garbage recycled Zelda crap again. Us rich folks want great games not peasant games for the poor. Raise your gaming bar Nintendo and move out!

@h20-xcv: Vintage trolling at its finest.

@h20-xcv: The ENTIRE gaming industry disagrees with you. Last time i checked Zelda cost the same as any other game out there.

@h20-xcv: Good old H20, we will always love you no matter how petty you are

I really can't make my mind up if I want this DLC. I very rarely used the Master Sword, unless I was in a dungeon or fighting Guardians. I don't really care about any of the armor pieces, and I actually enjoy traveling the land, so the waypoint feature won't be used that much by me. I can only hope that the actual story expansion they have later in the year is worth the 20 dollars, because that's the only reason I'd want the DLC.

This DLC feels like too little, too late. It has some content that would have been interesting while I was playing through the game, but it isn't enough to make me want to boot it up again and go hunt down the new content just on its own.

how much does it cost if I don't want the whole pack just the Legend of Zaldo shirt that he wears?

@computernoises: I think they're trying to bury their Crash review fiasco mate XD thought this was over after the Kane & Lynch fiasco

For the first time I am not excited for Zelda.

@mirage_so3: make sure you keep us updated

Avatar image for mirage_so3

@Princess_Rectum: Will do.

@mirage_so3: Wow, I'm sorry bro. That must really suck. :(

Avatar image for mirage_so3

@game_cross: I'm a huge fan but this game was a disappointment as well as being the first Zelda to sell DLC.

55 hours to beat the game and only found like 9 korok seeds. Had no idea they were even a thing to find let alone 900 of them.

Avatar image for P00DGE

@Bread_or_Decide: I didn't even attempt the final boss until I had gotten every shrine, and I found EXACTLY twice as many seeds as shrines (240 seeds). So I was finding an average of 2 seeds for every shrine I found. And I wasn't really on the lookout for the seeds, I just ran into all of them on the way. Either you were in a rush or are really bad at observing the environment. I'll assume the first one.

Avatar image for Bread_or_Decide

@P00DGE: nah its more the second one. I didn't know they were around every every corner and under rocks. Honest. I found a few and thought oh cool ok. I was more focused on all the other great things you can do in the game. Yeah its sorta funny and silly i didnt find more. I think thats a positive, the game didnt force it down my throat bc i wasnt interested in that part of the game and thats ok. Just oart of the BOTW brilliance. A game i adored even tho i normally dont love zelda games. (More of a mario man myself.)

@Bread_or_Decide: Understandable. I myself found seed hunting only just barely tolerable. Enough for me to grab them as I saw them, but to not go hunting for them. For me, all I was after while playing was Shrines and the main quest. I completed a few side quests here and there if I happened to run into the conditions to meet them as I did shrines and dungeons. The side quests were largely unfun for me, and I didn't feel like I had a whole lot to do in the overworld outside of hunting for shrines (which was quite fun in itself).

@Bread_or_Decide: wow only 9. I've found 180 something, but I was shocked too to find out there is 900 of them. Only problem for me is I just found out what they are for 2 days ago ... And I've completed all the shrines and freed all guardians lol. I don't know what to do now that I have ample weapon, shield, and bow slots lol.

@computernoises: I think the champion powers and halfing ganons life helped make that battle managable. Plus i had thr master sword to help.

Avatar image for fig56

@timmyp1982: IF you can't find things to do in this game then your imagination is truly lacking.

Avatar image for P00DGE

@computernoises: I recommend doing the dlc as you go. What is included in this sorta fleshes out what is already there, it doesnt add end game content really. It does give you a harder mode to replay I guess, but I was so burnt out by the time I reached the end, that I don't see myself doing another run through for years.

Avatar image for FallenOneX

@computernoises: Haven't beaten the game either, but I had to try the hard mode as soon as possible. With Two saves, I can now go back and start the game knowing which shrines I can hit at my level and start the game prepared.

Does one ever truly get one's "hands" on DLC? :)

It's a Lucy! =)

880 something seeds found, 98% something completition, I just cant see myself going back to this game anytime soon. Pretty much burned myself from it. Also this DLC isnt looking like i ts worth the purchase at all.

Avatar image for madcat_mikie

@gameroutlawzz: Fool, if you pre-ordered the DLC you could have had the Nintendo Switch shirt for your entire adventure. You missed out hard bro.

Avatar image for bebopstreet

@gameroutlawzz: it's optional. Feel free to skip it.
