Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead hasn't even hit Netflix yet, and the upcoming zombie action movie is already seeing its world expanded into a greenlit prequel feature and spin-off anime series.

"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with Netflix again as we expand the Army of the Dead universe with both an international prequel, as well as exploring the visually dynamic world of animation," Snyder said in a statement (via Variety). "It's been a great collaboration and we are thrilled that Netflix sees this as big of an IP as we do."

Army of the Dead, which is reportedly due out next year, is about a group of mercenaries attempting to pull a heist on a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. Co-written by Snyder, Shay Hatten (John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum), and Joby Harold (Edge of Tomorrow), the film's cast includes wrestler Dave Bautista, comedian Tig Notaro, Ella Purnell (Kick-Ass 2), and Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin).

Hatten will write both the prequel and anime series, which will be titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. Snyder will direct two episodes of the anime.

The other big Zack Snyder and streaming service news is the recent reveal of the infamous "Snyder Cut" of the 2017 movie Justice League--which will be released as a mini-series on HBO Max.
