Zack Snyder Wants To Make A King Arthur Movie
Snyder says he's been thinking about a "faithful retelling" of King Arthur, but it may never happen.
Zack Snyder, the director of Batman v Superman, Justice League, 300, and Man of Steel, has announced his next movie--and it's completely different.
He told I MINUTEMEN that he would like to direct a "faithful retelling" of the King Arthur legend. As with many projects in Hollywood, Snyder said he's not sure he'll ever make the movie.
"I'm working on something but we'll see," Snyder said, via GamesRadar. "I've been thinking about some kind of retelling, like real sort of faithful retelling, of that Arthurian mythological concept. We'll see, maybe that will come at some point."
As GamesRadar reminds us, a scene in Batman v Superman shows Bruce Wayne and his family leaving a movie theatre that was showing the King Arthur movie Excalibur.
There have been plenty of King Arthur movies over the years, one of the most recent of which was 2017's Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, featuring Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur. Long before that, there was the silly spoof Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Looking ahead, Dev Patel will star in a new King Arthur movie called The Green Knight from Pete's Dragon director David Lowery.
As for Snyder, his long-awaited Snyder Cut of Justice League comes to HBO Max in March. A trailer recently came online, and it features Jared Leto's Joker saying "we live in a society."
