Yankees Star Signs With Acclaim

New York Yankees star shortstop Derek Jeter signs on for All-Star Baseball 2000.

Acclaim Sports gained an exclusive endorsement deal for All-Star Baseball 2000 with New York Yankees star shortstop Derek Jeter. All-Star Baseball 2000 is scheduled for a line drive to retailers in April for the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, and the PC.

"Last season, All-Star Baseball '99 set a new standard for baseball video games in terms of both graphics and gameplay," said Jeter. "I am excited to work with the Acclaim Sports team to make All-Star Baseball 2000 the most incredible baseball game ever."

Jeter will help promote All-Star Baseball 2000 in nationally televised commercials, print ads, and all packaging for the title. He'll also lend his talents to the development team by providing scouting reports for the game.

The title features the company's signature Hi-Rez graphics and, with the licensing of Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, all 30 Major League teams, over 7000 players from the MLBPA, authentic team play styles, and full season-long player and team stats.

Other Acclaim Sports pro athletes endorsers include Brett Favre, Steve Yzerman, Keith Van Horn, and Jeremy McGrath.

"Derek Jeter represents the next generation of baseball superstars, and Acclaim Sports represents the video game leader in next-generation technology," said Mike Jerchower, Acclaim Sports marketing manager. "Derek's enormous popularity and winning reputation will allow us to reach beyond the traditional video game audience with our incredible baseball simulation."
