Yakuza: Like a Dragon is among the 30+ launch titles for the Xbox Series X, and now the developer has shed a little more light on how the game performs on Microsoft's next-gen console.

Chief producer Masayoshi Yokoyama spoke to Xbox Wire about how the game leverages the power of the console, and Yokoyama is particularly looking forward to players experiencing the dramatically faster load times. Yokoyama said the load times are "nearly instantaneous."

"I was personally most excited about the reduction in loading times due to the SSD, it's nearly instantaneous; there's not even time to read the loading screen tips!" Yokoyama said.

Yokoyama went on to say that Like a Dragon, overall, has a "much higher performance level [on Xbox Series X] than we've ever been able to achieve before."

"Seeing the game run at a smooth 60 FPS gameplay experience or in native 4K with near-instant load times is incredible," Yokoyama said.

GameSpot's Michael Higham got a chance to play a part of the game on Xbox Series X recently.

"Even with just a small slice of the game in this Xbox Series X demo, Yakuza: Like A Dragon shows us why the franchise has won the hearts of so many and continues to stand out among its peers," Higham said. "I'm convinced that the move to a turn-based RPG can pay off, and I'm already invested in our new protagonist Kasuga Ichiban and his friends, because Like a Dragon pulls these things off in ways only Yakuza can."

The latest Yakuza game will launch alongside the Xbox Series X and Series S on November 10, so check out our preorder guide for all the details on those consoles and the games that will be available on them from day one. Yakuza: Like A Dragon will also be on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on the same day, and will arrive on PS5 early next year. The game supports Xbox Smart Delivery, so you can buy it for Xbox One and upgrade to the Series X/S edition for free later on.

If you feel like celebrating the impending launch of the Yakuza sequel, you can splurge on a $282 USD bowl of ramen that Sega's Australian distribution partner Five Star Games created to promote the game.

With games on Series X performing this great, Sony's SSD *faster loading times claims are starting to look more and more like a failed advertisement.

@sladakrobot: Zack reese confirmed on the stream..

During the stream, around 1 hour and 48 minutes mark, Zack Reese answered some questions in the chat of the live stream which can be seen on Twitch. First of all, he confirmed that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will run at 4K at 30 FPS and 1440p at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X.

Later in the stream, he also confirmed the resolution and frame rate of the Xbox Series S. There are two modes supported for Yakuza: Like a Dragon. One is the high frame-rate mode that runs at 60 FPS while the other is the resolution mode. In the case of the Xbox Series S, the resolution mode will run at 1440p at 30 FPS while the high frame-rate mode which targets 60 FPS will run at 900p at 60 FPS.

@draziczach: PS5 running the game at 4K/60fps makes no sense in comparison. There was a video (either here or DF) that detailed the options for Series X video modes in Yakuza.

@theduckofdeath: The PS5 is rumored to use a new engine while the Xbox Series X still use the same dragon engine as the PS4 version.

@draziczach:

My question is about Segas confirmation about the PS5 version running at 4k/60fps...why is there no link in that tweet where Sega confirms that?

My point is,Sony fans and Xbox fans tweet often false informations daily.

This tweet has nothing to back up the claimed performance of the PS5 version.

I looked up myself on the net and i couldnt find anything Sega confirmed aside of the March 2021 launch.
You should had looked such things up too before posting this.

In which performance Yakuza will run on the series X i know from the DF preview from few days ago.

PS-End of September,Sega still kept the 4k/60fps performance for the series X,the DF preview run at 4k/30fps.

Awesome I’m so ready for next gen. Will definitely try Yakuza since it’s on Gamepass. Will be my first Yakuza I’ve ever played.

I’m not surprised about the load times. I doubt ps5 load times are going to me much faster if at all. All the money spent on the ssd isn’t going to amount to shit. It’s especially not going to give you better games that can’t be done on XseX that’s for sure.

The ponies have been sucked right in by sonys marketing. It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out that actually XseX has faster loading times.

@gamerbum: The PS5 has an onboard NVMe and literally double the data throughput of the XSX. If you don't see how fast that is, then you're either a fanboy (heh) or need to get educated on the concept of data bottlenecks. Throughput has a MUCH bigger impact on framerates than TFLOPS.

Not that it will matter. We're talking SSDs vs SSDs. The difference in load times will probably be tiny, like a half second max.
