Ubi Soft releases new information on its cel-shaded first-person shooter. New screens inside.

Ubi Soft has today released some new information on its comic book-inspired first-person shooter, XIII. The game sees players assuming the titular role of a character that has suffered a complete memory loss--the only clues to his identity at the start of the game are the Roman numerals XIII tattooed on his shoulder and a key to a safe deposit box in a New York bank.

In addition to the standard first-person shooter action that makes up the bulk of XIII's gameplay, it's been revealed today that the game will also feature levels that see players skiing and skydiving. It's also emerged that the game will feature an innovative multiplayer mode called "cover me," in which one player assumes the role of a sniper and has to protect the second player as they attempt to reach a flag.

XIII is scheduled for release on the PC and all three current console platforms early next year. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
