XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Edition coming to PC [UPDATE]

Bundle to include main game, XCOM: Enemy Within, Elite Soldier Pack, Slingshot DLC, and all Second Wave options.

[UPDATE] A 2K Games representative told GameSpot today that the XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Edition will include the following:

  • The main game
  • XCOM: Enemy Within
  • Elite Soldier Pack
  • Slingshot DLC
  • All Second Wave options

The Complete Edition will only be offered on PC because everything featured in the bundle is already included with the XCOM: Enemy Unknown Commander Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The original story is below.

2K Games has announced a new version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown called The Complete Edition. The bundle launches on March 4 for PC, but no mention was made of what content the game will include or if it will come to consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

We've reached out to 2K Games for comment.

The XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Edition will presumably feature previously released downloadable content like the Enemy Within expansion and the Slingshot and Elite Soldier packs, though this is not confirmed.

2K Games has also announced another new bundle: the Civilization V Complete Edition. Available today for PC, the bundle packs in the main game, expansion packs Gods & Kings and Brave New World, and all add-on content release for the strategy game to date.

So since they are releasing a complete edition with all the DLC, that means there will be no more DLC? I was hopin for more stuff. There is the long war mod but it causes all kinds of issues, like no MP and can make your game and system crash. I wont touch it since its not supported by the developer yet. Im surprised this game only received the limited DLC it did? Most games usually get two big DLC additions, this has had several but only Enemy Within would be consider true DLC.

Avatar image for madgame23

Well with the next Civilization game coming out, beyond earth, I don't see anymore DLC for this game.

This would be great if XCOM: EW wasn't a buggy pile of unplayable shit. XCOM: EU was fine, but they released XCOM: EW in an unbelievably bad state.

Even if it was patched Firaxis has lost quite a bit of my trust. Somehow I doubt it's patched given the way they were dragging their feet.

Perfect way to make the jump into the game if you have not yet. You won't regret it.

Avatar image for DeadManRollin

Well, I feel this is a good option for people who are yet to buy the game.

Good job, 2K, you keep sucking the money from the suckers.

Next expansion: Your soldier can be like a Transformer!, only for $29, and as a bonus it has a roundhouse kick.

Also included: The Patriot Mode, a version of the game that changes Xcom into a all USA operation only(all they had to do is hang some flags)

Missions: The evil Russians, Germans and Chinese are after Liberty and Justice, and only Emerica can stop them.

The content will be 1/20th of the game, but cost 1/2 the price. You WILL buy it, because your a tool.

..And what's the point of this?

Oh right, it's how the game should've been when it was released.

Honestly, even after playing through the complete game (ie; with EW), I still hail the original XCOM (UFO Defense) as a better game.. which I ended up playing AFTER the new XCOM.

I really wish someone else was allowed this IP. To me, Firaxis does not understand what an XCOM game is, especially evident by treating it as a Civilization game with a damn content expansion pack.

Oh well, suppose Xenonauts is something to look forward to as an XCOM replacement.

Avatar image for bloody-hell

<< LINK REMOVED >> Agreed. It's just a shame to see the development of Xenonauts to crawl along so slowly and still having so many annoying bugs.

It needs at least another 1, if not 2 years of development to be actually interesting and a worthy "competitor".

Until then I'd rather continue to play the good old XCom games (the pausable realtime mode of XCom Apocalypse is still my personal favorite I have to admit because turnbased doesn't make much logical sense to me) and it runs absolutely fine using DosBox.

The new XCom (Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within) feel too limited and "casualized" and the AI is constantly cheating and they don't seem to have any intention to ever fix that. (probably due to their "consoles first" development approach)

If an indie developer creates a good XCom Apocalypse remake, I'd be willing to financially support them.

aw I just brought enemy within

So... it's just the Commander Edition from the 360/PS3, renamed for PC? Ooooooookay.....

I don't advise buying it... it just feels like one more expansion is on the way that is going to flesh out the 'meh' end game of the Xcom campaign

Enemy Within added some nice mechanics to the early-mid game play to keep it from stagnating and improving the tension of missions instead of simply moving a hunk of over watched members about taking as many turns as it took to safely clear the mission. Now you only had so many turns to get to the canister of magic goo, but it still has the problem of ending up very blegh by the end where your simply running missions and testing your squad members to find the physic ones, build the artifact room, then assault on the Mothership and bam game over with very little changing throughout that time...

Iunno feels like theres more they could flesh it out with like how the inclusion of the human enemies and finding their base by sending opertaives on missions spiced up the start to mid campaign. + I liked the new enemies (specally the choke your lone agents to death invisosquids)

<< LINK REMOVED >> Have you looked up the Long War mod for XCom on Nexus? You would have to revert to an old version of the game but it sure does make things more challenging.

Avatar image for PinchySkree

By complete they mean without main game features ripped out to sell as DLC.

Avatar image for JSusie

There's a Sid Meier humble bundle going on right now, that I would recommend being a part of if you want the Civ 5 stuff.

Avatar image for 1wikkid1

<< LINK REMOVED >> I was about to post about that bundle as well... now I'm debating whether I should get that or not :/ $15 for what is essentially CivV Complete (along with Civ3+CivIV and a couple other Sid Meyer games)... TBH though I wasn't too thrilled with CivV, I think either 3 or 4 was the best one, can't decide which one... but it's not 5.

Avatar image for DAOWAce

<< LINK REMOVED >> My vote is for 3. I played 4 first, then 5, then 3, then 5 again with expansions, and for some reason really enjoyed 3 the most.

As a replacement for Civ 5, I prefer playing Warlock - Master of the Arcane, which is basically a fantasy version of vanilla Civ 5 (which was poor to begin with; expansions really brought the game up to standard).

Avatar image for 1wikkid1

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> For an interesting fanstasy twist on 4x I recommend Fallen Enchantress, it also borrows from M&M for it's combat system... just make sure to patch it up if you do get it, from what I understand it was a sorry mess at release.

Avatar image for Zloth2

<< LINK REMOVED >> And definitely if you want Civ 3 and/or 4.

Avatar image for jessie82

but for how much?

if its anything like the bl2 goty thats 50 bucks ill pass till its goes down then steam gives it a good discount during some sale

Avatar image for Zloth2

<< LINK REMOVED >> Which one? Civ 5 complete is $50 on Steam - and very easily worth it.

Avatar image for 1wikkid1

Sounds good, I've not bought either of these games yet... though I enjoy CivIV a lot, and I like the concept for XCOM so I'd probably like the game as well. Depending on how they price these I may be one of the buyers this time... IMO *all* games that recieve DLC's and xpacs should (at the end of their shelf life) be released as some sort of a "complete" edition.

Avatar image for Zloth2

<< LINK REMOVED >> Most are - though often times I would like a "Complete DLC" choice so I could buy all the DLC at once without having to re-buy the main game.

Avatar image for Bhemont

They should just focus on a sequel, I want a sequel damn it, not a package deal!

Avatar image for Freedomination

<< LINK REMOVED >> Luckily i don't see how this would be any work for the people who actually made the game, and the more money they manage to squeeze out of the game the more likely a sequel is

Avatar image for playstationzone

Well should the complete Edition come to ps4,xbox1 as well and plus good to see game come to pc first anyways I try game didn't like it but its good gone back to its roots.

Avatar image for sunbeam4

@playstationzone read the news. next-gen port would be useless.

Avatar image for sunbeam4

a date for the linux release ?

Avatar image for RossRichard

<< LINK REMOVED >> When Linux is running on 90% of the world's computers.

Avatar image for delta5931

Got this game with the BioShock Infinite PC pre-order.

Avatar image for normanislost

<< LINK REMOVED >> same annoyingly i already had it so its still sitting on my steam account

Avatar image for delta5931

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Gift it to someone you love!

Avatar image for normanislost

<< LINK REMOVED >> its was never $60 and i more got my moneys worth out of it so who gives a crap?

Avatar image for mkeezay22

<< LINK REMOVED >> I don't think this game was ever $60, it was much cheaper than that if I remember correctly, maybe on consoles I had the PC version but I think it was an arcade title on 360 and PS Store.

Avatar image for CatAtomic999

I want more XCOM so bad. Hope they make more expansions.

Avatar image for theprismhead

This has been on TPB for quite a long time...

Avatar image for rmiller365

I would rather have them fix the progress breaking bug everyone is experiencing on the consoles. I haven't played enemy within for weeks because I'm still waiting on a patch.

Avatar image for leakingdogmilk

PS3 has valkyria chronicle, no need for this garbage.

Avatar image for Joedgabe

<< LINK REMOVED >> I loved Valkyria Chronicles. But this game is better though valkyria has much better art style and more charming story this one takes the cake on the gameplay.

Avatar image for leakingdogmilk

Are you insane? How exactly is this piece of turd better than VC in anyway? The random number generator is complete screwed up, covers are just a multiplier. A game where bullets can go through walls to hit its target IS NOT OKAY. The game is completely broken and people are just playing round a broken game and think they accomplished something, if the covers aren't just a multiplier and 90%+ accuracy actually means something you will be laughing at how easy the game is.

VC has its own faults but it is no where as bad as this piece of turd.

Avatar image for normanislost

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> "completely broken" 100+ hours and all i can say is what game have you been playing?

Avatar image for rmiller365

So basically you saw an Xcom headline and went to it only to bash the game and talk about how much better VC is? Or need more time on your hands my friend..

Avatar image for RossRichard

<< LINK REMOVED >> PS3 has this exact pack too, it is called XCom Enemy Within Commander Edition.
