Xbox Series S Was The Best-Selling Console On Black Friday, Report Says

No surprise here.

The Xbox Series S was the best-selling game console on Black Friday, according to the Adobe Digital Economy Index (via Business Insider). This is no big surprise, as the Series S has been easier to find than the Xbox Series X, as well as the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. All consoles have been affected by the ongoing global semiconductor shortage and other supply chain issues.

Not only that, but price is a highly motivating sales factor, and the Series S is $300. Combined with the appeal of Xbox Game Pass, it's not hard to see why it dominated Black Friday. Historically, Microsoft has seen lower-priced systems perform better, even if the hardware is less powerful. "I think, over the generation, our expectation would be that price really matters and that you would see the Series S sell more," Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Kotaku.

Microsoft has not yet released any public commentary around how its consoles and games sold over Black Friday. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

Although Black Friday itself has ended, the shopping season is only just ramping up in the lead-up to the rest of the holiday season. We're expecting many more deals in the days and weeks ahead, so keep checking back for more.

The next Xbox game is perhaps Microsoft's biggest one in years. Halo Infinite launches on December 8, although its multiplayer is already out. To promote the game, Microsoft created a stunning live-action trailer and made a cool AR graphic at a college football game.
